BASF is the largest chemical company in the world. Originally created in Germany in 1865 for producing dye among other chemicals. BASF has a great reputation….and the worst!

In the thirties, they are the creator of "the magnetophon"; the first audio recorder on tape…..and during the Second World War, they cooperated with Hitler using slave labor for their production including, the infamous "Zyklon-B" used in the gas chambers in the concentration camps.

In their North America operations, for BASF to own their own railroad cars makes a lot of sense. Being getting supply from suppliers or delivering products to customers, having their own fleet is a good management decision.

According to my old "Official Railway Equipment Register"; BASF own about 2000 different train cars.

Since the identification mark for this company finish with an "X", it mean that this company own railroad cars but no railroads.

Pour BASF de posséder ses propres wagons pour l'utilisation en Amérique du Nord fait du sens. Ils s'en servent pour transporter leurs matières ^premières et pour livrer les produits finis à leurs clientèles; une décision de gestion qui est logique.

Selon mon vieux "Official Railway Equipment Register"; BASF possèderait environ 2000 wagons de différents genres.

Comme l'identification du matériel roulant de cette compagnie fini avec un " X ", ceci veut dire que cette compagnie possède du matériel roulant mais, sans posséder de compagnie de chemin de fer.
