Laurinburg Southern Railroad

Started in 1909, the Laurinburg and Southern was formed to service Laurinburg to Wagram in North Carolina. In 1921, more tracks were bought to Raeford.
Through the years, more tracks were bought where, eventually, serving customers in Virginia through their expansion under L&S in 1989.
They were themselves bought by Gulf & Ohio with two other railroads and many of their lines were either abandoned or put out of service.
The Laurinburg and Southern Railroad connects with the CSX. They own a few locomotives, have a few employees and it is very hard to evaluate the number of cars they own (I suspect around 200)
Fondée en 1909, le " Laurinburg and Southern a été créer pour servir entre les villes de Laurinburg et Wagram en caroline du Nord. En 1921, des lignes ont été achetées pour servir Raeford.
