The General Electric Rail Services Corporation used to belong to GE Capital. Despite being the property of the same owner as the locomotive manufacturer, it was a very distinct company. In January 2016, Wells Fargo (First Rail) bought GE Rail services from GE Capital, making them (according to their website) the largest railcar and locomotive leasing company in North America with 175000 cats and 1800 locomotives.
The beginning of GE Rail Services Corp. started in 1986 when GE Rail Services did the acquisition of North American Car Corp., buying at the time 35000 railcars. Since, GE Rail Services Corp. made many business moves which would be almost good enough to make a movie about it, buying failing railroad leasing company, making agreements with others big leasing companies.
Now, it is their turn to be bought by a larger company and according to Wikipedia, GE Capital seems quite happy with the selling of their Rail Service company since being hurt by the 2000 financial crisis in the USA.
The "X" at the end of the name mean that this company own railroad cars and locomotives but no railroad.

Naturellement, le " X " à la fin de leur nom veut dire que cette compagnie possède des locomotives et des wagons, mais pas de compagnie ferroviaire.
